Scott Saint – Chair, Brantford Energy Corporation and
Brantford Power Inc.
Scott Saint recently retired as the Chief Public Safety Officer and Vice President, Regulatory Affairs for the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA). In this role he directed ESA’s strategies for improving electrical safety across the province with the goal of keeping Ontarians safe whether at home, at work, or at play. Previously Scott was the Chief Operating Officer for ESA and directed the Operations Division.
Scott is recognized as an effective visionary leader with experience in strategic planning, operations, audit engineering, quality systems, purchasing and customer service honed in the manufacturing, utility and regulatory sectors. Academically, Scott is a Professional Engineer and holds both an Electrical Engineering degree and a Master in Business Administration degree from McMaster University. Scott has also received his Chartered Directors designation from the Directors College.
Ron Stewart is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in Ontario’s electricity industry. Recognized as a strong, innovative and visionary leader, he has successfully managed several major utility transformations leading to significant operational efficiencies, productivity improvements and creation of shareholder value.
Ron has also received his Chartered Directors (C.Dir) designation from the Directors College (a joint venture of McMaster University and The Conference Board of Canada) – 2009.
John Utley, Councillor, Ward 2
John managed the machine shop at Eagle Precision Tool for five years. He also taught apprentices at Mohawk College before joining them as Chair of Technical programs. He left Mohawk to set up a skills training facility and management consulting business. This led John to Wescast Industries where he managed leadership development, new product launch, and quality and manufacturing at plants in southern Ontario and Georgia, USA. John authored “Excelling as a Leader” a workbook for leaders and continues to operate his leadership training business. John has 30 years of volunteering experience and was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal for community service in 2002.
Neil Sandford is a Professional Engineer and the Senior Vice President with AESI Acumen Engineered Solutions International Inc., a consulting and engineering firm providing services primarily for electrical utilities. He has over 30 years of experience in the electricity distribution industry including senior engineering and management positions in local distribution companies.
He served on the board of directors of the Municipal Electric Association and is past-chair of the Electrical Safety Association’s Utility Advisory Council.
Terry Smith is President of O2Z Corporation and has extensive experience in the electrical power generation and distribution industries both domestically and internationally. O2Z specializes in providing environmental compliance strategies and technologies, including the utilization of carbon neutral and renewable energy sources. He has held senior management positions in a number of large corporations and has served on the Board of several companies including E.ON Engineering Corp, the North American engineering division of E.ON Ag, one of the world’s largest integrated utilities. Terry is a mechanical engineer and a graduate of the Banff School of Advanced Management.
Gerald T. Smits
Gerry Smits is a very experienced litigation lawyer, carrying on business as Gerry Smits Law Firm. Gerry has long been active in Brantford community organizations. He is past chair of St. Joseph’s Lifecare Foundation which raises funds for a hospice facility, a long term care centre and related research. He is also a past president of Brant United Way and a former chair of Operation Lift, a transit system for the disabled.
Craig Mann has over 20 years of experience in Information Technology and sales and sales management. Covering several vertical and geographic territories, he has extensive experience with infrastructure software and hardware. He was Country manager for Sterling Commerce, Vitria Networks, and Dynix Library Systems, and territory manager for Citrix, Symantec, and Information Builders Inc. His experience covers both direct sales as well as Channel and Partner management. He received his diploma in computer programming from Sheridan College in 1985.
Peter is the President of Vicano Construction Limited and Vicano Developments Limited, a wholly owned private construction and development company that was founded in 1975, with its head office in Brantford, Ontario.
Mr. Vicano brings over 40 years of development, design and construction experience to the Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional Construction Industry. Individual projects in excess of $50 million, along with numerous other projects each and every year all over southern Ontario.
Mr. Vicano graduated from the Architectural Technology Program at Mohawk College in 1972, He earned his credentials A.A.T.O (Association of Architectural Technologists of Ontario) after graduation. He was hired immediately after graduation by Group Eight Engineering as a project designer, hand drawing architectural drawings on Vellum paper. Mr. Vicano has evolved with the designing process with programs such as AutoCad, Revit and SketchUp, Mr. Vicano has investigated the process of B.I.M. (Building Integrated Modeling) as the future of drawing and design. Being a progressive thinker is one of the keys to the success of Mr. Vicano and the company in his charge.
Greg has held roles with the Chatham and Brantford Airports, Sharp Bus Lines, Copeland Refrigeration and the Brant Naval Veterans’ Association. He is currently employed with the Toronto Fire Services as a Captain in Operations.
Greg served three terms as a Ward 3 Brantford City Councillor, serving from 2000 until 2010, and is currently serving his fourth term as Ward 3 Councillor for the 2014-2018 term. He is Chair of the Board of Directors for Rosewood House, a not-for-profit community group home providing transitional housing and support programs for adults with mental health issues.
Andy Woodburn has worked in the insurance field for 40 years and as President of Woodburn Insurance & Consulting for the last 30 years. In the past, Andy was Chair of the Ethics Committee of the local Underwriters Association.
During this time Andy also served on Brantford City Council for 20 years between 1976 and 1997, where he served as chairman or member of many city committees.
Andy previously worked as an Industrial Engineer for seven years including time in management. He also worked in the accounting field for four years.
Andy believes in giving back to his community; serving on numerous boards and commissions including three terms as Chairman of CARP, three years on the Police Services Board, over 10 years on the Board of Directors of Operation Lift, and six years on the Board of Directors of St. Joseph’s Hospital. Andy also assists with fundraising for various charities.
Andy was recognized for his community involvement when a city park was named after him 2018. Andy has a degree in Political Science from McMaster University.
