IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR OUR CUSTOMERS ABOUT BRANTFORD POWER’S RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation is evolving rapidly and the health and safety of our community and our employees remains our top priority. We are following Health Canada’s recommendations and monitoring updates from the Brant County Health Unit (BCHU).

As an essential service provider in the community, Brantford Power wants to assure its customers and the general public that we are committed to delivering a safe and reliable supply of electricity throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Our line crews and technicians continue to work on our infrastructure, respond to customer requests and remain ready to assist during power outages and interruptions.

COVID-19 Recovery Rate effective June 1, 2020
The Government of Ontario has introduced a COVID-19 Recovery Rate of 12.8¢/kWh for all time-of-use (TOU) electricity customers. Households, farms and small businesses who pay TOU electricity rates will be charged this fixed rate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for electricity consumed starting on June 1, 2020.

This rate will be automatically reflected on TOU customers’ electricity bills for all three TOU periods, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is intended to be in place until October 31, 2020.

Winter disconnection ban extended until July 31, 2020
Brantford Power understands that COVID-19 may have a negative financial impact on our customers. To help ease the financial burden caused by COVID-19, Brantford Power is extending the ban on disconnection for non-payment for all residential and small business (General Service less than 50 KW) customers until July 31, 2020. This means that service to these customers will not be disconnected due to non-payment. Brantford Power is implementing these changes in accordance with our regulator, the Ontario Energy Board.

Our Customer Care call centre remains open and customers can contact us at 519-751-3522 to discuss concerns regarding bill payments and for assistance with flexible payment arrangements.

Walk-in Counter and Drop Box Closed
For the health and safety of our customers and our employees, and to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, Brantford Power’s walk-in counter and drop box at 220 Colborne Street are closed.

Doing our part to mitigate the spread of COVID-19
As noted above, Brantford Power has closed its walk-in counter and drop box at 220 Colborne Street. We have also taken measures to implement social distancing among employees as advised by Health Canada.

Please help us keep our team safe and healthy and do not approach Brantford Power employees who are working in the community to keep the lights on.
