COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program for Small Business (CEAP-SB)

UPDATE: The government of Ontario has announced that utilities may provide CEAP-SB credits to any eligible customer more than once, provided that the maximum total amount of $1,500 per customer is not exceeded.

The Government of Ontario is providing funding to support small business and registered charity customers struggling to pay their energy bills as a result of COVID-19. The COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program for Small Business (CEAP-SB) is being delivered directly by electricity and natural gas distributors and unit sub-meter providers (USMPs), further to rules laid out by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB).

CEAP-SB provides an on-bill credit for eligible small business and registered charity customers to help them catch up on their energy bills and resume regular payments.

Eligibility Criteria

Small business and registered charity Brantford Power customers are eligible for CEAP-SB if they meet all of the following criteria:

  1. The customer has an active account with Brantford Power. The customer’s account falls within the following class:
    • General Service less than 50 kW
    • Customers can find information about their class on their bill, or they can contact Brantford Power.
  2. The customer has a registered business number or charitable registration number for the small business or registered charity operating out of the premises.
  3. The account has an overdue balance with respect to one or more electricity bills issued since March 17, 2020.

Benefit Amount

Eligible small business and registered charity customers may qualify for a CEAP-SB credit up to a maximum of $1,500 for each account. Businesses with multiple locations (with separately metered accounts) are now eligible to apply separately for one account at each location. Customers may apply for CEAP-SB more than once, provided the maximum has not been exceeded.

How to apply

Customers can apply for CEAP-SB through Brantford Power.  The CEAP-SB Application is available on the Brantford Power website. The application can also be emailed or mailed directly to any residential customer that requests it.

Brantford Power will accept applications in the order in which they are received.  Applications are considered received only once they are complete. Applications will be processed if additional funding is provided. Brantford Power customers can apply for CEAP-SB by email or by mail.

Email

Customers who successfully email their forms to customerservices@brantfordpower.ca should receive a generic confirmation of receipt, and should keep this email confirmation. If you do not receive an email confirmation of your application submission, please call our office at 519-751-3522. Please note these confirmation emails do not indicate confirmation that an application is complete.

Mail

Customers can also mail their application forms to Brantford Power.  Please consider that mailing time may impact the receipt of your application. Applications can be mailed to: Brantford Power, Box 308, Brantford, ON, N3T 5N8

How to complete the CEAP-SB Application

Please note, in order to ensure that your  CEAP-SB Application is completed properly please follow these instructions:

  1. You must include your 8-digit Brantford Power Account number starting with the number 2. View the bottom portion a sample bill
  2. The application must be in the account holder’s name as it appears on the Brantford Power bill. View the bottom portion a sample bill
  3. You must include your phone number and email address (if applicable) on the application.
  4. The application must be completed in entirety. Your application cannot be processed until it is accurately completed.
  5. Submit your application using one of the following methods:

    Mail
